Buckeye Technologies, like many companies, has been contracting with a third-party Disaster Recovery services supplier to protect their business in the event of a major system failure.

Buckeye felt that they could provide their own internal solution, utilizing other geographic company sites, to provide a more flexible, comprehensive, and cost-effective Disaster Recovery solution.

Vanick Group designed and implemented this internal solution, utilizing HP9000 hardware and an Oracle Standby database, in a matter of weeks.

The end result is a hot standby system which mirrors their critical production SAP system.

The previous third-party solution required multiple days to bring up their productive systems in a disaster scenario. Buckeye's new DR solution system can be utilized for disaster fail-over in just a few hours -- and, best of all, Buckeye is saving almost $6,000 a month in DR costs.
